How to Detail your Car for Beginners
The Perfect Detail Guide
-
• WheelsList Item 1
You always want to start with your wheels. Your wheels are the dirtiest area of the car so it will require a good pre-soak with a quality wheel cleaner. You'll need brushes to get to the difficult areas, along with a separate wash rag and bucket that is specifically for the wheels and not to be used on the paintwork.
-
• Pre Cleaner (Stage 1)List Item 2
We always recommend to use a pre-cleaner. One specifically made to remove bugs and stubborn grime. Spray this on the lower areas of the car, as well as any areas that have become bug-splattered.
-
• Snow Foam (Stage 2)List Item 3
Snow foam helps break down any stubborn dirt, as well as remove any loose particles before the physical contact wash stage. Removing as much of this as possible before contact washing will help to reduce swirl marks to the paint finish.
-
• Contact Wash Write a description for this list item and include information that will interest site visitors. For example, you may want to describe a team member's experience, what makes a product special, or a unique service that you offer.
List Item 4 -
• Decontamination
First off, you'll need to use an iron dissolver first. This will dissolve any ferrous contamination such as industrial fall out and dust that has fused itself to the paintwork. Next, you'll need to use a solvent tar remover to soften any tar that may be stuck to the paint. An important step here is to rewash the vehicle, or at least the areas treated with the solvent before continuing to claybar.
-
• Drying
Start at the top of the vehicle and work your way down. It's important to work quickly to avoid water spots. Also important to be thorough so not to leave any streaks from the drying process. If you do happen to get water spots, quick detailer will clean those up very easily.
-
• Glaze
Between the polishing and waxing phase it is best to use some type of glaze. This will enhance paintwork and reduce fine swirls.
-
• Wax/Seal
Wax is possibly the most important steps of this process. Wax and sealant is what protects your car
-
• Tires and Trim
What we reccomend to do next is clean up the tires and trim. There are plenty of products out there that will make your plastic trim
-
• Glass
This is the most often skipped step becasue most forget about it.
-
• Finishing Touches
Lastly, a final wipe down of the car with a quick detailer will help prolong the life of your detail.
